PLS was proud to be the presenting sponsor and corporate financial sponsor of Kids Idea Tank. This “At Home Entrepreneurship Competition for Kids” took place on June 23, 2021. Kids Idea Tank is an entrepreneurship competition for kids ages 8-13. This year’s event took place over Zoom with over 600 people watching.
Founded in 2019 by award-winning children’s author Lowey Bundy Sichol, the goal of Kids Idea Tank is to give kids an opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial skills. Almost 80 kids from 23 states entered the competition. From those entries, 15 kids were chosen to pitch live, via Zoom, at the event. They each had five minutes to present their ideas to the judges and answer questions.
The grand prize winner was Julian Frederick from Dallas, Texas. The Step Stool Chef was born out the Julian’s love for cooking when he made his own birthday cake at 3 years old. Learning how to cook gave him a strong sense of independence and confidence and he wanted to pass that on to other kids. Chef Julian sells products and solutions to make learning how to cook easy and fun for kids including the Step Stool Chef Cookbook for Kids, the Step Stool Chef Cooking Kit for Kids and The Step Stool Chef Cooking School for Kids on the SideChef app.
Carter Koenigsknecht from Troy, MI came in second place with his idea. Small Business City Boxes is a monthly subscription box service where subscribers receive small business products from a certain U.S city each month, included in each box is a booklet explaining more about the small businesses, the products, and the city.
Finally, the audience favorite was Nyla McMichael from Durham, NC. Nyla’s handmade Sassy, Classy Stud Earrings are for for all ages. Lightweight and made with hypoallergenic stainless-steel posts, each one is made with love.
